CAREER OPPORTUNITIES AT THE MUSEUM
 

Tour Guides

 

Help us interpret the Museum for walk-in and group visitors:

 

- Conduct visitor tours around the Museum’s exhibits,
  shipyard, school house, burial ground and Hearse House.

Educators

- Lead school groups, elderhostels and tour groups in simple activities and demonstrations - including boat design, boat construction, steam bending, and simple machines.
 

The role of the Essex Historical Society and Shipbuilding Museum is to gather, preserve and interpret the history of the town of Essex and its development of the American Fishing Schooner. Visitors can experience our unique Museum through self-guided discovery, professionally led tours, or special education programs. 


 

Candidates for these people-oriented position should possess: 

 

- Strong customer service skills

- Excellent verbal communication skills

- Ability to operate productively and responsibly without
  hands-on management

- Passion for people and local heritage

- Outgoing, positive attitude
